Description

The A/1 Rival 650b offers a more premium 1x setup and a beefy 650b wheelset perfect for riders looking for added comfort and control on more technical surfaces and desire the benefits of the  SRAM Rival groupset's renowned smoothness.

The Allroad Model A/1 embodies the true notion of a more capable all roads bike. Designed for gravel, dirt, pavement, mud, and all other types of adventure “roads.” Everything has been intelligently considered and incorporated into an adventure machine you will not want to stop riding: weight reduction, more durable componentry, variable wheel size compliance, corrosion-proof inner and outer tube coating, and, most importantly, redefined superior fit and feel. These advantages have been carefully engineered into one bike to provide for a ride feel that will drive you to roam farther across every terrain.

The geometry of the A/1 enables the bike to be both a comfortable gravel grinder and an efficient and fast grand tourer. Well-placed braze-on mounts make it easy to add on racks and fenders on the front or back for safe and dry commutes.

LIGHTER. STRONGER. PROFOUNDLY BETTER.
VAAST Bikes® are the first to use ALLITE® SUPER MAGNESIUM™. This high-strength alloy features excellent shock absorption properties, weighs 33% less than Aluminum and 50% less than Titanium by volume, and is significantly stronger than both. Through the exclusive use of this eco-friendly metal, we have achieved a ride feel like no other.

  • Efficient power transfer makes for easier climbing.
  • Shock absorption properties neutralize much of the road buzz.
  • Frame weight rivaled only by Carbon Fiber.
  • PEO surface treatment technology for added corrosion and wear resistance.

Awesome ride

"I have been riding a 29" steel hardtail on my local paths and smooth trails. The Vaast A/1 has been a great upgrade. decades ago I had a Celo Europa that worked as my gravel bike. The Vaast geometry reminds me of that bike. The frame does dampen vibrations. Handlebar tape is very nice. Set up from the box was easy. Only issue was setting it up for tubeless. Getting the tires off and on dislodged the rim tape enough that I had to retape the rear rim. My blue bike is a bit darker than pictured. I like it. A 54CM fits my 5'10" body nicely."

This bike is sweet. First

"This bike is sweet. First gravel bike. Ridden everything else 29er,26, road, bmx Packed so incredibly detailed. Shifting is smooth. I did do a light rebuild to grease everything. It’s comfortable for me size 56 I’m 6’ around 185. Standover is a bit higher but I’ll be using mostly for gravel and around town or bike packing. I can get flat footed over the top tube but not much space there I’d probably go a bit smaller if I thought I would try single track on it. Nice finish on the bike. Flat paint is nice. Got to me in three days. Had it for about a two months. No complaints. Currently testing out different seats. Stock is ok but I like the split nose kind. Actually bought this one and the road model. Both great bikes. If I had to choose only one I’d keep this one as I can always throw skinnier tires on if need be. Can’t put fatter on the road bike. Plus the seatpost is a standard 27.2. I did flip the neck to raise the bar height also. Extra mounts on the forks for bottle cages or bikepacking."

Vaast is fast and fun

"My first ride was 25 miles to Washington DC and back on the C&O Canal Tow Path. The bike is very fast and responsive. I was surprised by how well it absorbed the bumpy nature of the trail. I'm used to an aluminum frame and love the feel of the magnesium frame and carbon fork combination. I'm enjoying my new toy."

Great ride.

"Frame really does soak up vibrations and shocks. I have arthritis in various joints and bought this because of the reviews. Ride smooth single track or pavement or gravel have fun."

Q&A

With this model can I swap up to 700c wheels?
Hello Manuel, According to the manufacturer you are able to run either a 650b or 700c wheelset on the A/1
Recommend size for someone 5’7”?
At 5'7" Vaast would recommend a size small frame (52cm)
