Kids Bikes Buying Guide
Deciding on the right bicycle for your child can be a tough decision. With so many different brands, sizes, and styles available, it's hard to know where to start. But with a few simple guidelines, you can narrow down the choices and find the perfect bike for your little cyclist. First, consider the type of riding your child will be doing. If they are very young, a strider bike will be the best option. That is a bike with no pedals and your child will push with his/her feet. However if your child is older, this is where things will get more complicated.
Most kids bikes are sized by their wheel size. 16", 18", 20", 24", and 26". It is ultimately best to bring them to our shop and try out our selection of kids bikes, but if you cannot come into the shop, consider the last bike that your child rode. It is most likely time to size up, and with all things regarding children, they will grow out of it for sure so buying on the larger size may mean a more used bike, and less money spent. However, wheel size isn't all.
If your little shredder is just starting with bikes, a cruiser or something with slick tires might be best. If they'll be hitting the dirt trails at all, a bike with nobby tires will be more appropriate. Kids bikes nowadays also come with all kinds of features, such as the full suspension Norco Sight Eagle mountain bike with disc brakes and a rear shock, but not all bikes are such high level. We offer a wide variety so check out our selection. If you're still unsure, give us a call and we'll get you all set up.
