40 tooth rear cassette puts off electric bike purchase!
"I dont want to resort to an E-bike until Im too decrepit to ride under my own power. Otherwise whats the point? After getting bullshitted by my bike shop that Id have to re-engineer my bike to a single chainring front crank to be able to ride a 40 tooth rear cassette, I followed the advice of some on-line posters. If you have a long-cage rear derailleur, all you need to do is install the cassette and tweak the b-adjustment screw to lift the pulley off the 40 tooth cog. That is all I did, and it works great! Im able to get up steep grades I have not been able to for a while. This is a nice looking and good-shifting cassette. Just be aware that the shifts between two low-gear cogs are 6 tooth jumps, so the shifting needs to be a bit more assertive than a usual 4 tooth jump. Enjoy!"
