View full detailsThe XTR M9000 hydraulic disc brake systems are also Rider Tuned in Race and Trail versions, as not all riders come down the same mountain at the same speed. Shimano’s legacy of leading brake design stems from its dedicated study of the components of control: heat, power and stiffness.
New XTR M9000 brakes offer varying levels of heat control from an insulated piston (glass fiber phenolic) and insulated pad coating that created 10 percent more heat resistance. XTR M9000 brake levers also feature new handlebar-clearing I-spec II mounting.
Thanks to improved control, heat reduction and ergonomics, you’ll seamlessly react to terrain changes with the highest level of braking confidence. The M9000 Race brake has race-tuned power and overall lighter weight thanks to a magnesium caliper and titanium mounting bolts, aluminIum backed pad and superior heat management thanks to an insulated piston and insulated pad coating.

"This version of the race XTR brakes allows for the use of the finned (cooling) brake pads. The new M9100 has a bleed port in the way, so you can't use the cooling pads. In my experience, it seems like the brakes with cooling work better and longer - so I'm disappointed that Shimano abandoned this feature for the M9100. Luckily, Cambria Bike had some old stock... thanks!!!!"
"Works great as a BR-RS785 (post mount) replacement, using R785 road hydro levers. I did not replace the hoses to the newer BH90. The BH59 seam to work fine."
