"Not riding enduro or downhill oriented trail, the XT M8100 is the perfect brake- low weight, exceptionally reliable, easy to install, and legendary Shimano stopping power. If you prefer to pull the brake lever and feel the bike immediately slow, the XT is your caliper. Service from Cambria is always top notch- fast shipping."

Q&A

HI There, I just received the caliper I ordered a couple of days ago to replace the leaking one on my front wheel. While attempting to install it, I noticed it’s not an exact match. The main issue is the hose connection—it appears to be reversed compared to my original caliper. On my current setup, the hose connects from the **outside** (facing away from the wheel). However, on the new caliper, the hose connects on the **inner side**, between the wheel and the caliper, making it sit very close to the spokes. I’m wondering—is this an intentional design change to protect the hose, or is this just a different model not intended for my setup? Thanks in advance for your help
Hello. Sounds like a connection issue between the brake hose and the brake caliper. If you're using a different brand lever and brand brake hose kit with your new Shimano 8100 caliper - this is the issue you'll need to address in order to get your new caliper to work properly. Without knowing the specifics of the components on your bike - that's as far as we can assist with your diagnostic question. The best solution would be to take your bicycle to a local bike shop - so as they can inspect and diagnose a solution for you. I hope this helps for now. Thank you for reaching out and thank you for purchasing your cycling components with Cambria Bike.
