Description

Shimano GR500 Flat Pedals

Shimano's GR500 Flat Pedals have an extra-wide profile that provides support and comfort, and a unique concave platform to enhance rider control.

The GR500 pedals are an affordable option that can be used across many different disciplines of cycling. With pins that can be set to 3 different heights, you can custom tune your perfect feel and level of grip no matter where you're riding. Taking its shape from the popular Shimano Saint MX80 platform, the GR500 has 5mm longer pins (in the highest setting), providing better grip in harsh conditions.

    Nice set of pedals!

"I bought these for an older mountain bike that I turned into a commuter bike; they replaced the clipless pedals I used off road. The pedals offer excellent grip. I love that you can adjust the pin height to taylor the feel of the pedal. I also appreciate the pins loading from the back of the pedal, meaning the hex slot will not get destroyed by rocks if you venture off road. These are extremely well-built pedals for the money. They may not be the largest or the thinnest or the lightest, but they offer a great compromise, look great, and do not cost a fortune. I have read too many stories of bad crashes due to broken pedals to trust an unknown brand. Shimano makes solid parts. Shimano makes a reflector for these pedals that I would love to obtain as I primarily use them on-road for commuting. I cannot find a place in the US that sells the reflector kit. I did find a place in Denmark (of course!) that sells them, but they are sold out...and do not ship to the US. Oh well, I am still really pleased with the pedals."

    Q&A

I bought these. Within 20 miles of installation the left pedal started to click, followed shortly by the right side pedal. I am 76 years old and produce perhaps 60 watts. I ride an average of 200 miles per month, in Jacksonville Fla, and not in the rain. I have had miserable fortune with a number of different manufacturers' pedals, as all seem to get noisy within a short (< 400 miles). Pedal noise drives me nuts, does anyone make a product which is durable?
