Better to use than not
"These kits don't protect from heavy impacts but do limit the number of surface scratches. That alone seems to validate the cost. A lot of other more expensive top of the line bikes don't need this extra protection as it comes pre installed if manufacturers feel the need. But cosmetically speaking these kits keep a frame looking nicer longer. Patch kits and frame paint is available but better to protect the investment any way possible before and then deal with less later. A little time is necessary for installation and corners do curl. But better to have than have not."
