Description

microSHIFT Acolyte M5185 8 Speed Rear Derailleur

The heart of the Acolyte derailleur is MicroShift's innovative SpringLock system. By pairing a customized linear rate high tension spring and a dual stage activation mechanism, they’ve developed a system that can provide substantial chain security when you need it and can be turned off when you don’t

  • Innovative SpringLock chain retention keeps chain in place over rough terrain
  • To engage clutch, turn the engagement bolt clockwise until it clicks. There’s no way to overtighten the bolt. To disengage the clutch for wheel removal, flip the switch
  • Direct path cable routing for smooth and responsive shifting
  • For use with Acolyte 12-42T and 12-46T 8-speed cassettes
  • Compatible with Acolyte shifters only
  • Largest Cog: 46
  • Rear Derailleur Mount Type: 10x1 Standard
  • Chain Wrap Capacity (teeth): 41
  • Cage Length: Medium
  • Rear Der/Shifter Compatibility: microSHIFT Acolyte
  • Drivetrain Speeds: 8
  • Color: Black

Good value

"Great value derailleur with easy installation. I’ve went on a couple rides with it so far and it shifts well. Of course, given the range and number of speeds, the jumps in between gears is less than elegant, but this is a great product for my commuter bike."

Pretty heavy. I’d recommend spending

"Pretty heavy. I’d recommend spending more for the advent level stuff"

Updated a 95 Rockhopper

"Derailleur arrived in great condition. Items were packaged very well. Installation was very easy, but I still referred to microshifts youtube videos for reference. I installed this on a rockhopper frame that needed components. 1x8 36t with a 11-42t riding like a dream."

Works great

"Shipping was quick. Installation was simple. My bike rides a lot smoother now that this is installed. I did have to add a shifter in order to make this work with my bike."

Great clutch derailleur for the price

"Used it on a 90s mountain bike that was in need of a new drivetrain. Paired with a 11-40t 8s cassette"

Acolyte

"For the money the derailleur is great. The only thing I wish is there was more movement on the b screw to move jockey wheels a little farther down. Have it on a GT Aggressor Pro with the 12 to 46 cassette. Would buy another if need be."

Shifts crisply and easy to install

"The derailleur was easy and straightforward to install. It shifts smoothly and was easy to adjust. I attached this to my sons 20” hardtail and upgraded his bike from 6-Speed Shimano/Suntour to 8-Speed MicroSHIFT system with a Suntour freewheel. I will be keeping the MicroSHIFT cassette and will upgrade his next bike which Ill make sure comes with a free hub :) This derailleur is very tight for a 20” bike. When stretched out to the lowest gear, the bottom pulley comes close to the tire/rim and close to the ground! Weve done some rough trail rides and no derailleur bashings yet! I would probably suggest this to go on a 24” or larger wheel sized bike. But in my case, I made it work on a 20”. Cambria was great to order from too. Item shipped and delivered within a couple days. Eat your heart out, Amazon! I will definitely be ordering from them again."
