"I have tried many shorts over the past 30 years on the MTB. I am not a fanboy of any particular brands - so I have tried a ton. These shorts have become my go to shorts over the past 3 years or so. The Simplist list of Pros for these shorts: The closure system is simple and easy to use even with heavy winter riding gloves on. The fabric is heavy and will survive crashes on rocks, clay, roots, and tree branches as you slide off a cliff and hit several on the way down. The inseam is long enough to not have a funky interaction between your knee pads and the shorts. Cons: Price The fox log will wear off and look ratty before the rest of the shorts show any wear."
