Opted for this over the "replaceable" chainring model
I bought two of these for a hybrid/road bike and a mountain bike. The 22/32/42 on my mountain bike is what I had used before. I had the Alivio version with "replaceable chainrings", but I asked at my LBS and they quoted me ~$1/tooth for replacement rings, which made buying a whole new crank the same price as a replacement medium or large ring.
The 28-48 tooth version is definitely a big step up on gear ratio. I find that the "useable" gear range for most of my around-town (central PA, hilly) is pretty narrow which I suspect will wear down my middle ranges faster, and while it's nice to be able to pedal downhill I think I'd rather have stuck the 22/42 version just to spread the wear around more total gears while riding.
