Building on the lessons learned in the development of, and building on the ongoing, phenomenal success of the origninal Reserve Rims, Santa Cruz has built a DH optimized 29"wheelset - the perfect upgrade for the latest generation of V10. Paired with the legendary Chris King ISO hubs, which feature 72-points of simultaneous-engagement, this wheelset will be ready for anything you dare to imagine throwing at it.
The Rim:
Santa Cruz set strength and impact resistance as their highest priority, but strength doesn't have to mean uncomfortably stiff. Reserve rims are compliant and responsive. Everything from the thickness of rim beads to external spoke hole reinforcements comes purely from Santa Cruz’ experience of knowing what riders need at every level—from international racing to your local trails. So confident are Santa Cruz in their rim, they offer a lifetime warranty, no gimmicks, not limited. If you do actually manage to break a Reserve rim while out riding, Santa Cruz will replace it for free. And probably high five you in the process! If it gets run over by a truck they'll help you out with a low cost accidental 'crash replacement'.
The Hubs:
Chris King ISO hubs are designed as precision mountain tools. Built using one-piece solid axles to provide a stiff hub with rail accurate steering, transferring every minute adjustment you make to the trail. To thwart mud, water, and contaminants as you power through rough trails, ISO hubs have heavy-duty bearing seals, and a threaded driveshell seal ring.
Chris King bearings feature races that are machined simultaneously to ensure perfectly matched inner and outer races. The quality and speed of our bearings are what set them apart from the competition and they are what you will feel and notice on every single ride. As Chris King bearing tracks burnish they get faster with age and all Chris King hubs and bearings are fully serviceable for years upon years of demanding use.
