It accelerates and climbs like a cross-country bike yet more than holds its own on rough, technical terrain. With the Trail 429 Pivot sweated the details—painstakingly developing the precise mix of resins, composite fibers, layup orientation, and frame shaping to create a chassis with the perfect blend of strength and stiffness. The frame's full-carbon construction uses leading-edge materials and Pivot's proprietary, hollow core, internal molding technology. A 130mm Fox 34 fork is paired with a 120mm Fox DPS rear shock for smooth, efficient suspension that's tuned for trail handling. The dw-linkage offers peerless braking performance, big-hit capability, and the perfect balance of traction and acceleration. This bike is compatible with both 29-inch and 27.5-inch plus tires and provides class-leading mud and tire clearance. Its ultra-short chainstays make easy work of the tightest trails, while the long-and-low geometry offers a confident, stable stance. The end result is a bike that’s calm and neutral on steep technical terrain, yet fun and flickable on the most twisted trails. Pivot gave the Trail 429 many of the same strength and stiffness-enhancing features that you’ll find on their gravity-oriented bikes, including a double-wishbone rear triangle, Super Boost Plus rear axle spacing, ultra-wide suspension linkages, and burly bearing assemblies. With the Trail 429, Pivot has upped the ante on downhill performance without any loss in versatility.
