The V2 chain guide is suited for use with all new 2x10 drivetrains. The integrated skid plate protects the chainrings from rocks, roots and literally any trail obstacle that requires you to roll over it.
If you prefer to run the V2 as a chain guide only, then the skid plate can be removed and the dual pulley chain retention device will still perform to the same high level. The top of the frame mounting area has a raised fin, which will also prevent the chain from dropping behind the chainring and into the bottom bracket shell area of the frame.
