Intense Carbine 29 Carbon Full Suspension Frame

The Intense Carbine 29 is a new breed of 29'er, redefining what's possible on a trail bike. With 140mm of VPP-II travel, aggressive geometry, and a 5.8-lb full carbon frame, this 29'er is designed to slay absolutely everything in it's path. With a 67° and a 17.75" chainstay, this bike screams speed and stability. Unlike many 29'ers that are plagued with twitchy geometry, the Carbine 29 takes the benefits of big wheels to inspire confidence in any riding situation. Go ahead, take it to the bike park...this bike can take it all.

To handle the suspension duties, Intense has stocked a Cane Creek DB Inline rear shock. The DB Inline is a fantastic lightweight shock, offering ample external adjustability including high/low speed compression and high/low speed rebound. It also features a Climb Switch, which improves climbing performance by deadening both low speed rebound and low speed compression. Suspension travel is adjustable between 125mm and 140mm (5" - 5.5") via the lower shock bolt. Simply unscrew the bolt using a 5mm allen wrench, and align the shock to desired travel setting.

For 2015, the Carbine 29 gets a revamped full carbon rear swingarm, including molded fixed 12x142mm Syntace dropouts. This is a departure from Intense's usual G1 interhangeable dropout. Although the new system does not allow you change between 10x135/12x142mm dropout standards, it is a lighter and cleaner setup. It's will also be less expensive for you as the consumer when you need to replace a derailleur hanger ($20 as opposed to $70 on the G1 setup). The 12x142mm Syntace dropout standard has essentially become the golden standard for all trail bikes these days, so Intense didn't see the need to offer a 10x135mm option - we agree. Compatible axles include Intense's bolt-on alloy Syntace option, or the DT Swiss RWS Syntace option. You may select your axle option using the dropdown menus. Upon examining the rear swingarm, you'll notice a couple other nice enhancements. Intense has implemented internal rear derailleur cable routing through the chainstay, making things as clean as possible. Stiffness and strength have also been improved by using an oblong-boxed construction the seatstays and chainstays. Finishing things off, the chainstay is protected with Intense's FLK:GRD carbon-leather protectors, keeping the carbon safe from chain slap.
