Cambria Bicycle Outfitter was founded in 1986 in the beautiful seaside town of Cambria, CA, population 6,000. Nestled just south of the Big Sur wilderness, and 200 miles from either of the thriving metropolises of S.F or L.A. in California, we are in what many who have ridden here call a “Mecca of Cycling.” This is good, because that’s what we’re all about. The riding! So, it was up to the owner to figure out how to ride the best stuff in the world, not just oogle it at the trade show or in magazines. Oh, and somehow keep eating. The plan was simple. Test everything we sell. Create the World’s first demo fleet of bicycles built with hand made frames, wheels, forks and parts. Every bike a different mix of products to demo!!!! Encourage the Staff and customers to demo anything they desire in real technical trail conditions. Carry only the best, most functional products. Offer the best prices and the most comprehensive technical expertise. Offer a satisfaction guarantee. Then actually stock the stuff riders can’t get at their corner store. When we started back in ’86, The mountain Biking Sport was just getting the rubber side down. That was the same year that Mountain Bike Action debuted, to give you an idea! CBO has had an ad in every Issue Printed ever since!! We started in a little 1000 square foot building and a small ad in MBA, and today we grown to Four Retail Bike Candy stores , and 1000,s of friends and customers all over the globe! The Printed CBO Catalogs and those little tiny print multipage magazine ads with all the gram weights for all you techo-weenies, evolved to a sprawling online superstore with tens of thousands of products catering to Roadies and Dirt Riders alike! Headquarters became a massive warehouse including front showroom and pick-up counter packed to the ceilings fool of cool stuff, a super high end demo fleet of the best brands in cycling, and a Mountain Bike Museum has evolved in Cambria. True to our roots, our Cambria store still services the local rugrats and die hard locals with all their cycling wants and needs and shows off some museum pieces from our roots in the beginnings of the Mountain bike industry.. Our two flagship stores in San Luis Obispo and Santa Rosa, CA, boast huge floors full of bikes,Our massive online selection of the most sought after brands in cycling, plus brands not available online, walls filled with the coolest goodies we can find all over the globe, and the best staff that can be found. Our Paso Robles, CA location brings us back to our origins, with the full might of the warehouse attached to it. All our stores are staffed by guys and gals that ride their bikes as hard as you do, and they know what works and what doesn’t. We have a combined staff bicycle industry experience easily in the hundreds of years! With many of our Staff being at CBO for a decade or more, We are proud to say we have the most technically experienced staff around. We know this because unlike some places that have gotten big and corporate, we’re still the big group of mud heads, road weenies, steel loving single speeders and huckers we were when we were kids. Our guys ride the stuff, and know it works or we don’t sell it. ’Nuff said! It’s pretty simple - we all love riding bikes. You do too, and we like what you’re doing. We’d like to be part of it, somehow. So’ just get out there, on the trail, on the road, on the way to school or work, wherever, and ride your bike!
